Snowy Flatirons

Description

Check out the majestic view from the St. Julien resort in Boulder, CO. The Flatirons looked absolutely magnificent! I can't believe I climbed to the top of the Royal Arch just a few days before the snow storm occurred. The Flatirons were known as the "Chautauqua Slabs" c. 1900 and "The Crags" c. 1906. There are two hypotheses regarding the origin of the current name, one based on resemblance to old-fashioned clothes irons, the other based on resemblance to the famous Flatiron building in New York City that was built in 1902.

It provided a serene sense of life. Though it was a challenge to take this photo, I say it really stands out- not just because the shot looked perfect, but you managed to brave out the trek to make this shot possible. In full honesty, I appreciate this photograph as it means that you can find peace in the wilderness of winter- where freezing temperatures simply makes other people seek out warmth, but you, you made it through to have this, and it is marvelously breathtaking. It is a shot that is worth the trek, and it's worth being checked out for exhibit.
